Kirkcudbright couple celebrate 60 years of happiness

Kirkcudbright couple Sam and Gladys Kelly celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with family this week.

The pair met at a dance in Kirkcudbright in 1963 – and have been together ever since, being married in Dalbeattie Parish Church by the Rev Roderick Pettigrew on July 2, 1964.

Gladys, who is 82 and Sam, who will soon be 80, have three children and five grandchildren.

Their first great grandchild expected to arrive this month.

Sam has been a familiar face around Kirkcudbright in recent years filming and photographing local events and occasions for posterity.

He and Gladys marked their milestone with lunch at The Selkirk Arms on
Monday.

They were joined by son Andrew and his wife Audrey – who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

The couple received a card of congratulations from King Charles and Queen Camilla.
