Corrie woodlands felling update

A FRESH survey has deemed a “significant number” of trees at a wood on the edge of Lockerbie require to be removed.

There are safety concerns around the woodlands at Corrie Road. And after the initial tree survey recommended the whole area should be felled and cleared after there were deemed to be 212 “unsafe” trees at the site.

But it was agreed at the last Lockerbie Common Good meeting that a different survey should be carried out for an update on the condition of the wood.

And Annandale North councillor Stephen Thompson has now updated the town’s community council regarding the findings.

At last week’s meeting, he said: “The report says that a significant number of trees requiring either removal or a large amount of work carried out on them.”

The issue will be raised and discussed at the next common good meeting.

The woodland is owned by the Lockerbie Common Good Fund so the final decision will rest with members.
