The Swan Inn at Kingholm Quay, Dumfries, is asking its customers to consider chip-ping in to help the Nith Inshore Lifeboat service.

Their menu has an extra special addition – “invisible fries”.

Anyone who buys the invisible fries for £3.50 is donating the money towards the wholly volunteer-run team at Glencaple who are grateful for any public donations which help with annual costs such as insurance, electricity, gas and crew equipment and supplies.

It is not part of the RNLI, but is a National Independent Lifeboat Association member with the volunteers providing a coastal and inland water search and rescue service serving the Upper Solway and the surrounding area and the charity needs around £35,000 a year to operate.

A spokesperson for The Swan Inn said: “Buying a portion of invisible fries will not fill you up, but it will directly support the local lifeboat charity.

“They are zero per cent fat but 100 per cent charity. All proceeds go to Nith Inshore Rescue in to their lifesaving efforts.

“Next time you visit the Swan consider chipping in to support them.”

Every portion of invisible fries bought will help NIR fulfil their mission to protect and save lives – and, when life is lost, to do everything they can to recover loved ones for those experiencing loss.
