Road users in Dumfries and Galloway are reminded that there will be a significant increase in the number of motorcycles using our road network, particularly the A75 Gretna to Stranraer road and the A77 Stranraer to Portpatrick road, at the conclusion of the North West 200 🏍️ event in Northern Ireland.

It is anticipated that there may be in the region of 2000 motorcyclists passing through the area on Sunday 12 May 2024.
Police Scotland would like to remind all road users to stay safe.

There will be an increased number of Road Patrol Officers carrying out speed checks at strategic locations, in a variety of vehicles, including the Police motorcycles, which will be deployed on the A75 for the duration of the day. Road checks may also be in operation. If you are stopped, please remain patient and allow Officers to carry out their duties. Any delays will be kept to a minimum.

Should you have any concerns regarding irresponsible riding, or driving behaviour, please contact Police Scotland on 101 or in an emergency dial 999. If it is safe to do so, note down any vehicle registrations involved and your location to assist Officers in tracing those responsible.
