Castle Douglas High School pupils present a cheque for £500 to David Hill’s father Rodger

In the spring term Castle Douglas High School supported the charity CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young.

CRY raises money to try to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness raising, screening, research and supporting affected families.

To mark the second anniversary of the sudden tragic death of a Dumfries and Galloway teacher’s son, David Hill, who died from an undiagnosed heart condition, members of David’s family and friends cycled the match ball from Edinburgh to Dublin for the second playing of the David Hill Memorial Quaich at Dublin’s Donnybrook Stadium on March 16. It was held between the Dail and Seanad and the Scottish Parliament rugby teams.

Young people and their teachers from Castle Douglas High School supported this fund raising event by joining the peloton on the journey from Castle Douglas High to Kirkcudbright Academy.

The pupils presented a cheque for £500 to David Hill’s father Rodger and also had the chance to get their hands on the match ball.
