Scheduled:
21 April to 28 May 2024

Summary:
Bridge Parapet Replacement

BRIDGE PARAPET REPLACEMENT ON THE A77 AT WHATRIGGS ROAD COMMENCES SUNDAY 21ST APRIL 2024

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking bridge parapet replacement on the A77 at Whatriggs Road Overbridge, two miles south of Kilmarnock, from Sunday 21st April until Tuesday 28th May 2024.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the parapet structure and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The works will take place at Whatriggs Road under a total closure of local authority road over the A77 from Sunday 21st April until Tuesday 28th May 2024. The road closure is to facilitate the safe demolition of the concrete cope. A signed diversion will be in operation.

Traffic will be diverted along the A76 westbound to Bellfield Interchange where it will take the third exit on the roundabout to Queens Drive and turn left on to the B7072 (Hurlford Road). Traffic will then turn left on to New Street and continue until Whatriggs Road and turn right at the roundabout on to Merrick Road. Traffic will then be able to turn left to join Whatriggs Road, where the diversion ends.

There will also be alternating nighttime lane closures on the north and south bound carriageways of the A77 from Wednesday 24th April until Tuesday 30th April 2024.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
