A Castle Douglas business has been recognised as the country’s top rural enterprise.
Now Scott Country International is in the running to be named the best in the UK.
The thermal imaging and night vision specialists won the Scottish rural enterprise category at the annual Countryside Alliance Awards in Edinburgh.
The awards have been running for 17 years and are driven by public nominations, with customers given the chance to explain why their favourite business deserves to be recognised.
A spokesman for Scott Country International said: “The awards received more than 17,000 entries this year, and after being selected as a finalist, we attended the awards in Edinburgh.
“We were thrilled when it was announced that Scott Country International had been crowned Scottish champions of 2024 in the rural enterprise category.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for us.
“We are extremely proud to hold the honour of rural enterprise Scottish champions of 2024 and look forward to attending the final in June.”
The team from Scott Country International has been invited to a House Of Lords reception in June, where the board of judges will hold the next round of judging to determine who will be the UK winner of the rural enterprise award.
Director of Countryside Alliance Scotland, Jake Swindells, said: “Running a business in a rural community isn’t easy, particularly in recent times. The evening was all about celebrating the valued role these rural enterprises have in their communities. The Countryside Alliance is proud to be honouring a group of people so clearly passionate about the goods and services they provide throughout our incredible countryside.”
