Annan Riding of the Marches annual sashing ceremony will take place tomorrow from 8pm in Newington Social Club.
It will be a chance for the public to meet the Cornet, Cornet’s Lass, Standard Bearer and Queen of the Border and her retinue all together for the first time.
The sashing ceremony will be followed by a disco.
Annan’s principals were chosen by a public poll at The Anglers function room on Friday – with more than 1,500 votes cast for two candidates for both Annan Cornet and Cornet’s Lass 2024.
Kirstin Kerr and Kayleigh Murray put themselves forward for Cornet’s Lass, while Hayden Hodgson and Ewan Murray stood for Cornet.
Ewan Murray was voted as Cornet for this year’s summer festivities, and Cornet’s Lass is Kirstin Kerr, with Jenny Park as Standard Bearer.
Also at the sashing will be this year’s Queen of the Border 2024, Macy Oliver, accompanied by Champion Lloyd Downie, ladies in waiting Maddie Irving and Imogen Cairns, and the heralds Emma Irving and Ellie Mitchell. The crowning ceremony will take place in June ahead of the Annan ROM and Gala Day on the first Saturday in July.
