Dumfries community champion aims to provide Easter eggs for care home residents
Anne Croucher is asking people to donate Easter eggs for care homes in Dumfries

Community champion Anne Croucher is hoping to crack a mission to provide care homes in Dumfries with an Easter egg for elderly residents to enjoy.

Her public-spirited campaign at the Tesco Extra store at Cuckoo Bridge got off to a good start this week when the supermarket gifted the first 100 eggs.

She said: “We have over 450 residents in the care homes and Tesco has set the ball rolling by donating 100 eggs.

“Now, I am hoping people will be generous and help me be able to give as many elderly residents as possible a chocolate treat for Easter.

“Whether it is an Easter egg, a box of chocolates or a small chocolate treat – they will all be much appreciated and enjoyed.

“Anyone can donate in store now as I have placed a collection box by our bookshelves.

“Myself and the Easter Bunny will deliver the treats just before Easter – so get in your donations as quickly as possible over the next few weeks, please.”

She added: “The feedback from the homes when we have done this before has been brilliant.

“I really hope everyone pulls out the stops again this time.”

Last year’s eggs were shared between Charnwood Lodge, Alanbank, Goldielea, Abbey Gardens, Claremont House and Lochduar by the Easter Bunny with Anne hoping they’ll all benefit again this Easter.
