Annan Lonsdale Cinema has caught the attention of TV producers.

A camera crew from S4C descended on the cinema last week to film for their Welsh language programme, Priodas Pum Mil – £5k Wedding.

They filmed in the art deco-styled Screen 3 at the cinema after also being there earlier in the week to film some drone footage of the cinema building from the air.

Owner Alan Towers said: “Some months ago, we were approached to be a location for the £5,000 wedding.

“In the programme, a wedding is arranged on a budget of £5,000.

“The wedding will take place in the area but, before the wedding, the television crew will be showing the groom, his best man and son some pre-recorded video clips from friends as a surprise and that has all been filmed in the cinema.”

It is not the first time the cinema has been used for filming or photographs.

Last year the Lonsdale Cinema had a starring role in Scottish rock group Fatherson’s new album release.

The Kilmarnock band of vocalist and guitarist Ross Leighton, bass player Marc Strain and drummer Greg Walkinshaw made full use of a photoshoot at the cinema.

As well as using a photograph of themselves sat on the distinctive red velvet seats at the Lonsdale for their pre album release publicity on social media, the cinema also features on the slip cover of their album, Normal Fears.
