Dark Light
Time for the final tree

IT’S party time in Moffat as the last tree is set to be planted on the Gallow Hill this weekend.

A symbolic event is planned to mark the milestone, which comes after six years of hard work.

The Friends of Gallow Hill are inviting members of the public along to Sunday help them celebrate and to enjoy refreshments.

They said: “We would love to see everyone who helped plant the first trees. And we’d love to see families and children as they will be the future custodians of our community woodland.”

The first tree was planted in the woodland in 2017 and since then, over 40,000 trees have gone in, with the planting carried out by 80 volunteers of all ages.

Anyone interested should meet 11 am on Sunday at the Beechwood Shelter. RSVP to [email protected] for catering purposes.
